LA COSA

Quiero dejar claro que hay películas que no necesitan remakes para nada, que habría que dejarlas como están y si las generaciones venideras no entienden o simplemente no les gusta la película original,.pues que se fastidien. Pero a pesar de todo sí que es verdad que existen ciertos remakes que se merecen elogios por lo currados que están y que  respetando la historia original se permiten ciertas licencias para innovar.

Un ejemplo claro es “La cosa” de John Carpenter. Desde que la vi hace ya años, bastantes diría. La recuerdo como una de las mejores películas de terror y ciencia ficción que se haya hecho hasta ahora. Sí, es un remake de “El enigma de otro mundo” película de 1951 producida por Howard Hawks que se convirtió en una cinta de culto, pero Carpenter consiguió que su adaptación siguiera el mismo camino.

Impresionó con sus efectos especiales, una banda sonora sublime de Morricone, un héroe a la altura y una trama que dejaba al público anclado a sus asientos. Aunque según el director la reacción de la gente fue muy mala al principio, afirmó que le odiaron por haber sacado algo tan violento y horrible. En parte porque su estreno fue un par de semanas más tarde que “E.T” y el público, en general, de los 80 prefería películas más alegres. Aun así, el tiempo  la ha puesto en su lugar.

Mi reacción al verla no fue otra que estar con los ojos abiertos como platos durante todo el metraje, la vi cuando la dieron en televisión y la grabé para así mostrársela a compañeros que no tenían reproductor VHS, con esa excusa la volví a ver encantado ya que los efectos merecían un segundo visionado, sabía que estaba ante una película que la recordaría durante toda mi vida. Años más tarde nos llegó un remake del remake de La Cosa, completamente innecesaria y que no está a la altura en ningún aspecto.

Tras el éxito de Carpenter con “La noche de Halloween”, los productores lo eligieron para dirigirla pero en un principio dudaron de su capacidad y casi le dan el honor a otro gran director Tobe Hooper. Kurt Russell también estuvo a punto de no aparecer en el film ya que él fue la tercera opción, anteriormente se lo ofrecieron a Nick Nolte  y Jeff Bridges. El extraño sombrero de cowboy que Russell llevaba puesto en los planos generales de las secuencias de exteriores fue una aportación del propio actor con la única intención de que el público supiera en todo momento quien era la estrella.

“La Cosa” se estrenó el 25 de junio de 1982 y a día de hoy en cuestión de efectos especiales sigue siendo una de las mejores, a pesar de la tecnología y los años que han pasado.Muchos coinciden que  hacerle sombra a esta historia resulta muy difícil.

    sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
    There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.

    this matter to be really something which I believe I’d by no means
