BRAINDEAD. TU MADRE SE HA COMIDO A MI PERRO.

Los amantes del terror siempre hemos dicho que la sangre vende, y si ha gustado mucho una película, en parte, ha sido por eso mismo.

Si existe el ejemplo claro de una película que con el paso de los años se ha convertido en un film de culto,  si la sangre utilizada fue en tal cantidad, que podríamos calificarla como un “festín sangriento”, si hablar de terror no sería correcto, más si de miedo, aunque lo que se dice miedo no da, pero la diversión está garantizada; como en un parque de atracciones donde te puedes llevar a casa algún miembro amputado, metafóricamente hablando, eso sería “Braindead. Tu madre se ha comido a tu perro”. En 1992 se estrenaba esta primera gran obra del genio Peter Jackson, y aunque tenía títulos anteriores (uno de ellos “Mal gusto. Bad Taste” de 1987) que le sirvieron para pulir en su cabeza esta cinta.

Los litros de sangre (se estima que unos 30.000 litros) salpicaban un guion salpimentado de genialidad. Con un humor negrísimo y surrealista en el que cupo de todo: religión, fantasía, terror, relaciones de pareja, etc. .Un combinado perfecto donde la exageración de las muertes dan lugar a situaciones cutres, pero a la misma vez brillantes. Está claro que Jackson no temía a nada y se reía de todo. La historia trata de una expedición científica que encuentra en Skull Island un “Ratticus”, una especie de mono rata, al que capturan para su estudio. A pesar de estar aislado en un zoológico el animal consigue escapar mordiendo a la madre de Lionel, el protagonista. Comenzando así el principio del caos.

Cuando visioné por primera vez la película, gracias al título, me esperaba lo que ocurrió: pura diversión sangrienta. Y si lo acompañamos de unos amigos del instituto, pizzas y refrescos, esa tarde sería recordada por todos con gran satisfacción. Bestial, desternillante, apoteósica, todos los sustantivos son  pocos cuando te lo has pasado pipa. Al día siguiente no paramos de hablar de otra cosa: una película incríble.

Una cinta que llegó de Nueva Zelanda  y que costó 3 millones de dólares; parte del dinero conseguido fue gracias a lo recaudado en el anterior film “Meet the Feebles” (1989). Según su director “Braindead” recoge  la influencia que él tuvo de las obras de George A. Romero, Sam Raimi y Stuart Gordon. Todos recordaremos esta etapa como la más prolífica de este tipo de cine y que seguramente nunca volveremos a ver.

El título en España desde luego que prometía lo que ofrecía pero desde mi punto de vista si hubiera llegado con el mismo que en Latinoamérica, “Muertos de miedo”, la respuesta no hubiera sido igual.  Aquí un servidor siempre se ha dejado llevar por los carteles y los nombres llamativos.

Jackson, con posterioridad, siempre ha tenido en cuenta sus comienzos, homenajeando, a su manera sus títulos. Hoy día podemos decir que está en la cúspide de su carrera y nos ha recordado dónde empezó y lo orgulloso de haber rodado lo que quería. En la versión que dirigió sobre  “King Kong”, la isla es la misma del comienzo de “Braindead”. Otro guiño se produce cuando uno de los protagonistas entra en las bodegas del barco y en una de las jaulas para animales podemos leer “Sumatran Rat Monkey”. Como los grandes maestros se reserva algún cameo en sus films. En King Kong hace de explorador que busca al Simian Raticus. Al final muere mutilado.

Llegó a declarar que solo volvería a rodar gore siempre y cuando hubiera alguna otra película que superara a esta. Y cómo no, en algunos países fue censurada. En Estados Unidos se llegaron a cortar 20 minutos, en Alemania 10. Aquí tuvo la oportunidad de contratar actores profesionales, anteriormente fueron amigos y conocidos, llegando a destacar la gran Diana Peñalver, sevillana a la que este año 2020 he tenido cerca gracias al Festival de Cine Fantástico de Murcia.

Este cóctel de entretenimiento siempre es bueno disfrutarlo en compañía de los amantes del género por lo que si desean organizar alguna quedada, por favor, vívanla, acompañados de unas buenas palomitas y algunos amigos, para sentirse adolescentes de nuevo.
